Working Group Leader Biography

Mary Gade is currently the President of Gade Environmental Group, LLC, an international consulting firm that provides strategic advice on energy, climate and environmental issues. From October 2006 until June 2008, Ms. Gade served as the Region V Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Prior to her Presidential appointment, she was a Partner in the environmental practice group of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal LLP in Chicago.

Focus of the Working Group

The “Regulatory and Environmental Policy Issues “Working Group will tackle key policy questions related to carbon regulation, environmental impacts of distributed energy resources, and climate impacts and adaptation and mitigation, as well as other issues relevant to the topic that have been raised by previous NextGrid Work Groups or by Working Group 6 Participants through a preliminary survey and during Work Group meetings. Work group 6 will explore opportunities and challenges with regard to technological advances and environmental impacts; identify regulatory and policy approaches for modernizing Illinois’ grid and achieving environmental objectives.
